Can a tablet really replace a laptop for a working creator? I edited an entire video on the Tablet Pro M4 to find out.

About this video

Every year I'm told the tablet will replace my laptop. This year, for one full video, I let it try: script, edit, thumbnail and upload — all on the Tablet Pro M4 with the keyboard cover and stylus.

The hardware is absurdly good — the display embarrasses my laptop and the chip chews through 4K timelines. The software still says "not quite". Here's exactly where the workflow broke, and the two apps that nearly saved it.

Timestamps

  • 0:00 — The challenge: one video, tablet only
  • 1:40 — Setup: keyboard, stylus, hub and drives
  • 4:05 — Editing 4K on the timeline
  • 6:30 — Where it fell apart: file management
  • 8:15 — Thumbnails and upload
  • 9:10 — Final score

Gear mentioned

  • Tablet Pro M4, 13-inch with keyboard cover
  • Pressure-sensitive stylus for thumbnails
  • USB-C hub with SD reader and SSD
Creator tip: if you edit on a tablet, keep every project file on an external SSD — internal storage fills up mid-export and the error messages won't tell you why.
